Civil

Shire Engineering Consultants can provide a range of civil engineering services and offer sound engineering solutions for the clients.

Our areas of expertise include:

Earthworks and environmental erosion control

This involves the use of 3D modeling software to design the site formations and layouts, to identify the parameters for the site gradients and the site retaining structures, to confirm and analyze the earthworks Quantums (i.e. the site cuts and fills), to prepare the erosion and sediment control designs in accordance with the local authority guidelines, to issue the earthworks reports, and to come up with the site management plans (SMP’s).

Roading

We can provide effective and appropriate road designs using the best practice approach for any roading requirements for either new or existing roads which require repairs or widening.

Stormwater management

We can provide effective stormwater management solutions for residential and commercial land projects with a focus on evaluating the stormwater runoff watercourses, and how any changes can affect the stormwater system.

We will take your proposed plans into consideration and outline the mitigation measures for the identified risks where necessary.

The stormwater management reports cover the following:

  • Pipes network analysis including capacity analysis
  • Risk assessments and mitigation requirements
  • Detention and retention needs, and stormwater tank capacities
  • Retention tanks for kerbing discharge
  • The impact of proposed development plans on the stormwater system.

Three waters

The three water networks will be designed to suit any type and size of development and it will cover all of the following services:

  • Stormwater, wastewater and water supply network capacity analysis
  • Stormwater, wastewater and water supply network designs
  • Water supply assessment for firefighting. (SNZ PAS 4509-2008).

Our team of engineers can provide comprehensive stormwater management reports as well as effective stormwater mitigation designs and septic tank effluent designs. This ensures that the property can be managed properly, and the site will meet the council requirements. It is of great importance that we create a safe and healthy living and working environment and minimize the risks of flooding in the case of extreme weather conditions.

We can advise on the best methods of effluent disposal and even design the onsite effluent disposal management system after the onsite effluent assessment has been successfully completed.

Does your project require stormwater assessments?

Get in touch now to discuss the specific requirements of your project.

Stormwater floods and coastal hazards

We will provide assessments on the potential flood and coastal hazards and to identify the level of risks to which it might happen to the sites, and where appropriate, we will recommend the mitigation measures.

Construction monitoring

We will oversee and monitor the construction of the approved and consented development to ensure a high quality outcome for the clients. This includes the drainage systems and water supply installations, roads, accessways, and carparks.

Why do I need a civil engineer?

When it comes to engineering, it is important not to overlook the roles of a civil engineer in the construction project. This is a quick summary of what a civil engineer can do for you: Civil engineering is a specialized field which requires knowledge of the most current engineering and surveying methods and a high level of skills in completing the drawings, calculations and report writing process, which you will not have to worry about as our

What does it mean – “Retaining walls”

We often hear about retaining walls, and in engineering, we talk about it a lot, however, what does it mean to construct a retaining wall and what is the purpose of that? In simple terms, a retaining wall is a structure that is there to prevent erosion or the slipping away of soils, or what we call “earth”, especially when the sites are ones with heavy amounts of earthworks which might require a resource consent from the
